Hard Long Run – GPS Rocks!

Today was the first official day of our marathon training plan and I had to do 6 miles for the first time. I have been running regularly for the past few months to bring my mileage up to 5 miles before the real training would start.
We didn’t get a chance to go running until the middle of the afternoon today so it was already pretty hot. My run was so hard and long! I had to walk a bunch of times so it felt like it would never end. I did finish it though and was very happy to be done. At this point I can’t imagine I will be able to run 1/2 marathon, let alone a whole marathon! But I have been down this road before and went from nothing to an Ironman so I know this is all normal and part of the training process.
Celt gave me a GPS heart rate monitor last Christmas and we have been using it during our runs. It is so awesome! It tells you your pace, distance and a whole bunch of things along with the regular stuff like heart rate and time. The watch I have is the Garmin Forerunner 305. I highly recommend it! Shop around for prices though if you want to buy one!
