Touring Mammoth Cave

Like I said yesterday, we are visiting the Mammoth Cave National Park. Today we did a tour that was more involved and strenuous. We visited the New Entrance of the cave as well as the Frozen Niagara.
It was nothing like yesterday let me tell you! Yesterday our walk in the cave was more like walking in a street. It was very wide, very open and fairly flat. Today was the total opposite! We started by going down 250 stairs in really narrow openings. It was very impressive! We were wondering how can big people fit down these stairs. It was so beautiful! All together there was 500 stairs to go up and down in. These pictures show some narrow areas but not the smallest ones that’s for sure!
The rest of the walk through the cave was more open with a few stairs until we got to the Frozen Niagara. It is called this way because it looks like a frozen waterfall. There was a ton of stalagmites and stalactites nothing like I had ever seen before! My dad was in awe of the whole thing! He said the tour through the cave was the most beautiful thing he has ever seen and he has seen a lot in his life!
After the tour we walked down a trail outside of the cave to go see where some of the cave’s water surfaces to come meet a river. Even that was awesome!
Then it was time to head home. On the way back we tried to go visit a bourbon distillery but we forgot about the 1 hour time change so arrived too late.
